At Bidvest Insurance, our commitment to making a difference goes beyond business. This Mandela Day, we proudly celebrated our long-standing relationship with LIV Village by engaging in a project that embodies our company values and demonstrates our dedication to community service.
LIV Village, located in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, provides holistic care for orphaned and vulnerable children, aiming to create a nurturing environment that equips them for a brighter future. Over the past decade, we’ve collaborated with LIV Village on various initiatives, from painting houses to building a mountain bike trail. This year, we partnered with Painting on Purpose to upgrade three classrooms in the LIV Village School, focusing on the IT, Life Science, and Travel and Tourism subjects. Our goal was to create an inspiring learning environment for the students, one that would ignite their curiosity and passion for education.
Painting on Purpose is a community-focused organization that uses art to transform spaces and uplift spirits. With their help, we repainted the entire classrooms and created vibrant murals reflecting the theme of each classroom. These murals now stand as a testament to our collective effort and creativity.
Our staff members, embodying our values of “Be Kind” and “Be Connected,” enthusiastically took turns over three days to repaint the entire classrooms. Every member of the Bidvest Insurance team dedicated their 67 minutes for Mandela Day to work on these murals, highlighting our value of “Be Excited.” The sense of unity and shared purpose was palpable as we painted, connected, and celebrated the spirit of Mandela Day. The excitement and pride in contributing to a meaningful cause were evident in every brushstroke.
Our efforts at LIV Village are more than just a project; they are a reflection of our values and our commitment to making a lasting impact. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the education and well-being of the children at LIV Village and look forward to continuing our journey of kindness and connection with them.
As we reflect on this year’s Mandela Day, we are reminded of the power of coming together to create positive change. At Bidvest Insurance, we are dedicated to living our values every day and making a difference in the communities we serve.
