Bidvest Insurance Panic Alert: bags cover explained

We recently introduced you to our latest lifestyle insurance product, Bidvest Insurance Panic Alert, and this article allows us to explain the bags cover benefit in more detail. We believe in serving South African citizens with valuable products that meet their evolving lifestyle needs, which is why we’ve introduced this product and included this benefit.

What is ‘bags cover’?

Bags cover is a benefit provided by our Panic Alert insurance product. It covers your actual bags against theft and damage during a trigger incident.

What is considered to be a trigger incident?

A trigger incident is a specific event covered by Bidvest Insurance Panic Alert. Trigger incidents can be defined as muggings, assault, sexual assault or armed robbery.

What does bags cover include cover for?

In most cases of trigger incidents, if you have insurance you’ll be covered for your valuables. What makes us different at Bidvest Insurance is that you’ll be getting cover for your actual bag. We know that a good hand bag, or backpack, can be costly, and that’s why we’re including cover for these things so that you have one less thing to stress about in such an incident.

Can you claim for more than one bag?

Yes. In the case of an incident, it’s possible to have multiple bags on you at once that might get stolen or damaged. You’ll be able to submit a claim for however many bags that were affected during the incident as long as the covers falls within the limit of liability which is R1,000.

How much cover does Panic Alert provide for your bags?

A single claim can pay out up to R1 000 for the repair or replacement of any and all bags that get stolen or damaged during an incident.

What won’t ‘bags cover’ include?

Like with all insurance product benefits, there are a few limitations that come with the Panic Alert bags cover benefit. If any bags that don’t belong to you, get affected during a trigger incident, these won’t be covered. This includes work bags provided by your employer, since this is a personal product and the benefits are focused on your personal belongings.

Why is bags cover a separate insurance benefit?

We at Bidvest Insurance are devoted to serving your evolving insurance needs. Part of that means showing you details and insight into where we think differently from other insurers. Providing a stand-out bags cover benefit means you’re covered for even more in an already-stressful situation.
